Let's Get Acquainted
This blog came out of from my experiences as the pastor of a loving and accepting Long Beach church, Cal Heights UMC. I've had the privilege of serving many congregations over the last thirty years and the Cal Heights congregation is one of the most accepting and affirming congregations I've seen. The people have allowed me to be myself, with all my faults and foibles which has allowed me to explore what it means to live simply and authentically as a a human being, a disciple of Jesus, and a leader in community.
As a visitor here, you are part of a fantastic community. I would love to hear from you your stories of success and failure, what life-hacks and organization strategies have worked or not, the recipes that made your mouth water, and the pictures that inspired. Feel free to send me an email to share your thoughts on God, justice, and compassion. Most of all, I hope you will find something to inspire you, give you hope, and help you to simplify your life as well.
As I've mentioned, the churches I've served over the years have inspired me to write and explore the Bible in different ways and some of the discussion guides I've written are here on the site to download. Feel free to download the free ones and see what you think. The same goes for the photos I've taken over the years. If you like them, you may purchase the large file for your personal use or download the free pics as well.
